The present population of Russia - about 143 million persons from which
nearby 93 and a half millions are in able-bodied age. It is a lot of it or a
little? In 1979 the population of RSFSR made 137 million, in 1959 - 117
million, in 1926 - 93 million As it is known, the country in all named years
endured scale economic growth - the first five-years periods, restoration of
a national economy after war, building of industrial giants, development of
new industries (including, nuclear and space). During this period those
material assets, an infrastructure and objects of the property which "were
intensively eaten" throughout last one and a half decades were created. Thus
the considerable part of the population remained then in villages, and
during the period between 1926 and 1956 the war, destroyed ten millions
people at able-bodied age has gone in. And even, despite all these factors,
the country managed practically without labour import.
